The Tasting Room
The vineyard and cellar door at Thunder Ridge are situated only ten minutes drive east of Armidale on the Castledoyle Road, barely a stones throw away from Gara Gorge and the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
Come in and enjoy a relaxed tasting in a comfy tub chair surrounded by amazing sculptures by local artists including Jeremy Rudge and Carl Merton. Enjoy the wonderful birdlife that visit the cellar door including a growing family of Double-Barred Finches, Superb Blue Wrens, Red Brows and Crimson Rosellas. And of course there are the endless views of rural paddocks studded with quietly grazing sheep and cattle.
The cellar door is open on Sundays from 10:00am to 4:30pm
Susan is often nearby and can open on other days at a moments notice so give her a call on 02 6775 3793 if you are passing by and feel like dropping in.

Wine in the Wilderness
“...a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough, a Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse - and Thou Beside me singing in the Wilderness...”
(From the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam)
If, like Omar Khayyam you don't mind a drop of wilderness with your flask of wine, then make your way to Thunder Ridge and book in for “Wine in the Wilderness”. The cellar door sits only minutes away from the spectacular Gara Gorge - a 1000m drop that forms part of the World Heritage listed Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
Wilderness with Silver Service
We have a fully self-contained cabin right next to the Gorge that you can hire for daytime, overnight or weekend stays. Susan will pack a lovely picnic or self-cook bbq hamper which includes either a bottle of a very fresh, crisp clean Thunder Ridge Chardonnay or a lovely, easy-drinking Thunder Ridge Merlot (beer is also available). There will be no need to share lunch with the bugs. The cabin's rosewood dining table will be prepared for you with silver service.
“Wine in the Wilderness” is a wonderful way to enjoy a very secluded piece of rugged paradise in total privacy without surrendering any of the creature comforts that most of us like to have throughout the day.
